Why Preparation Matters More Than Most People Think

People often imagine psilocybin therapy as being all about the journey day itself. But in many ways, preparation is where the healing truly begins.

Preparation is not just about logistics or explaining what the medicine does. It is about creating safety — emotionally, mentally, relationally, and physically. Entering a vulnerable, expanded state with trust and support can deeply shape the experience.

In preparation sessions, we often explore:

  • intentions for the journey

  • fears or hesitations

  • personal history and mental health

  • grounding tools

  • relationship patterns

  • nervous system regulation

  • what surrender and trust can look like

Many people come into this work carrying years of emotional armor, hypervigilance, self-criticism, or survival mode. Preparation helps soften some of those defenses so the journey can feel less overwhelming and more supported.

At Wild Glow Alchemy, we believe preparation is not separate from the medicine work — it is probably the MOST part of medicine work.
